By completing this module, you will develop in detail your areas of interest, talent, values, personality and achievements.   You will have all the tools necessary to respond to potential employers requests for résumés and personal information. 

The techniques used in this module include:

  • Putting together a résumé that will market you to potential employers,

  • Having a solid understanding, of which direction you would like to take your career,

  • Marketing yourself to others,

  • Designing a résumé using tools and techniques professional writers use,

Module Three:    Job  Search  Skill  Building

This Module discusses how to find the jobs you would like to pursue and the companies for which you would like to work.

In this module, you will:

  • Learn how to use the classifieds and the local newspapers to identify industry trends and to learn about the companies in your area.

  • Learn how to use Headhunters to your advantage,

  • Learn how to make the most of Job Fairs,

  • Learn how to research particular companies,

  • Learn how to conduct Salary Surveys.

Upon completing this module:

You will have researched many of the companies for which you have found job postings.  You may or may not choose to pursue certain positions based on this research.

You will know the appropriate salary range for the positions you are pursuing.

Module Four:  Marketing Your Career

Once you have identified the career path that you would like to pursue and done sufficient research, you must market yourself effectively. The strategies of networking, telephoning, and writing are the learned skills covered in this module. These techniques can become your lifelong tools for career growth.

In this module, you will:

  • Learn effective networking skills

  • Learn effective telephone skills

  • Learn how to write concise correspondence

  • Learn how to develop a “one-minute commercial” to present yourself positively.

 Module Five: Interview Skill Building

By now, you have begun to develop your broad marketing strategy.  You have begun to network and make contacts and soon you will be interviewing.  This module addresses specific tactics that will help make your marketing strategy a success.

  • In this module, you will:

  •   Learn valuable interviewing skills

  • Learn how to negotiate your salary

  • Learn how to tender your resignation

  • Learn how to handle counteroffers

    Upon completing this module:

  •  You will have developed several telephone scripts for a variety of situations,

  • You will know how to take control of an interview,
